BRD also runs as a mobile unit, moving around South Wales putting on shows and events, giving people taster sessions and a general introduction to the sport. We find that shows enable us to introduce mountain boarding to a wide range of people, and also allows for large numbers of people to get involved in something they’ve never tried before.
Our most recent event took place at Margam Park in July where we had about 70 children from Sandfields comprehensive come and have a go at Mountain Boarding throughout the day. It was a really successful day with all the kids thoroughly enjoying themselves.
We’ve had some brilliant feedback from the school
“Thank you again for our event in Margam Park. All the children and teachers thoroughly enjoyed the sessions, and I’ve had endless enquiries from pupils of when can we do it again!”
This event was organised following the success of one of our shows at Margam Park back in May. This event was for the lauch of the 5×60 scheme which aims to get kids involved in fun physical activities 5 times a week. We provided taster sessions for pupils from 5 different schools throughout South Wales. It was a fantastic, fun filled day, will all the students really getting int the sport!
BRD has also put on shows in the grounds of local schools, recently at Dwr y Felin Lower School in Neath where the pupils were able to get a break from normal lessons and come and have some fun mountain boarding on the hills in the playing fields.
